Location Shots.

We have filmed most of the movie in my house, we used my room - as it's girlie, with pink bed covers and pink curtains.

In our opening sequence, two girls were going to the party so the room is kinda messy, showing that it has been used by them to get ready.

We also filmed in the kitchen, at the beginning of our opening sequence girls are sitting in the kitchen having a girlie chat.

Audience Feedback.

This is a clip I've created by collecting feedback from other Media AS Students.

Evaluation Question 3&4. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?

Our movie opening might be seen as a similar to the American Teenage Movies such as, Mean Girls or She gets What she wants.
Both of the movies are about teenage friends, who are nice and friendly, but nasty and unfaithful behind each other's back. In our movie - the friendship between two characters is being disturbed, because of the boy. There are elements of cheating, betrayal, jealousy and a bit of violence.

The movie has been written by us - females.
We're amateurs though, so that our movie would probably be a low budget. As we're still unknown we have decided to produce our movie with Candi Studios. This is one of the best companies that can support us and help to get more experienced in the film industry.

I also think that we could advertise our movie in Social Websites such as Facebook and Bebo, also in Teen Magazines such as Sugar, CosmoGirl or Look.

Peace Movie Advertisement,

I think the cinema is the type of cinema my movie would be screened at as it is a low cost price for tickets and a high percentage of teenagers go there.

i would also put up a youtube page as many teenagers and young females go on to youtube and have youtube accounts.
the type of magazines that would promote my thriller movie is look magazine and glamour magazine as in both front covers they have young female stars showing to us that it is highly read by female audience.
All of these things would help our promoting as it would reach out to the female public today and most of these things are brought of watched each day of the year.

This image helped us think of our idea of the plot the girls kill their mate this also happens in our thriller movie, its a female based movie and the target audience is the same as ours.

Evaluation 5. Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for our media product, would definitely be female.
Teenagers mostly, but also women upto 25 years-old.

Feedback from the Audience.

We have received a lot of feedback from the audience, it was mostly positive, as people liked the storyline and editing - most of our opening sequence was done in black and white which was meant to show that it was a flashback.
There weren't many people who used it so it made it look more unique.

Although some poeple said that the pace was a bit too fast, and we should have worked more on the transitions, as when the Peace Logo came on the screen the dialogue was still playing, and that wasn't meant to be exactly like that.

Wordle audience feedback

feed back from the audience

After watching over the feedback we got from our audience I realised some faults we had with our movie first the transitions came in to fast and some of them hid our dialogue.

There also was a lot of confusion with the plot of our story not many people got that she had done something to me as they did not see the main aspect at the end the murderer holding a chain of mine that I was wearing in the film and in the pictures
However a lot our audience liked what we done in the movie including the slap it was surprising that a lot of the male audience where the one reacting in the cinema when they where watching it.

evaluation task 7

From our preliminary task we have improved drastically and it was more easier to create our final piece after doing the practice for the preliminary task.
By looking back at our match cut several of our match cuts in Peace to the earlier one you can tell that we have used more effects and editing skills.
In our match, we used different clips that did not really match. And did not make the film move smoothly Micky taught us the effects we can do to make the flow more quicker without filming transitions get all our match cuts to the best of our ability. This meant that we were putting our inputs and outputs and had to use the razor tool more often to create the perfect match cut.

A dramatic improvement we made, in contrast with our first task, is the dialogue. Even though we used a lot and the same in both, it shows that there have been improvements made to our final film. In the first one the dialogue did not match and we were out of time with each other, however in the final one we managed to edit some dialogue and make it short and snappy.

Evaluation Task 7

Who would be the audience for your media product?
teenagers and female based audience.

This is contents from a girl make up bag, it shows the kind of audience we wanted to attract to our film. Seeing as both our villain and victim were both Female we think this would help attract more girls our product, also becuase of the characters within our film we think it would attract many girls that like to party and that are interested in boys, and i think this image helps to convey this. I think our film would be a certficiate 18 due to the voilence and messaage being put across.
movie.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?
Thriller film opening , Mean girls is written by females and so is we decided to release our film through Candi Studios as the production company as that is our main target audience Candi Studios was to connect with the target audience.

This film leaves us always wondering what’s going to happen next are they going to find out what her plan is this is very similar to our film as it involves girls affairs and relationships

What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
i have learnt that there are many ways to protray a meaning using the technogies supplied for us, everything is used for a reason and way to sell your product.
Analysing Thriller Clips
Arlington Road
The Shining
What Lies Beneath
The Structure of Thriller Openings
There are 3 basic structures:
A narrative opening with the titles running throughout
A discrete title sequence
Titles on a plain background, followed by the narrative opening
Opening of Thriller clip - Collateral
Collateral opens with medium shot of Tom Cruise, even though
In this clip, Tom Cruise (actor) is walking through a crowd in an airport. The use of selective focus makes him stand out which make it more clear to the audience who they should be focusing on. His footsteps are heard which indicates he is in control and this foreshadows what may happen next in the film. In this clip, they have used the effect of blurring all the extras except Tom Cruise and Jason Statham. The contrast between fast and slow paced footsteps create tension and builds suspense. Both characters are wearing tuxedos but Statham has a black suit whilst Cruise’s is grey. The black sunglasses create suspense and make the audience want to know who Cruise is.
As the two walk towards each other, the sound of the crowd and the footsteps increases when the two characters are first seen together.

SoundTrackPro.

For our soundtrack we have used Soundtrack Pro - which is a music composing and audio editing application made by Apple Inc. which includes a collection of just over 5000 royalty free professional instrument loops and sound effects.
I think this programme was the hardest to use, even though it seems like it isn't hard to create a little piece of music using different instruments.
We've had to create a suspense with our sound, and we were working on it until we've finally decided that the sound we've made is good enough.

Digital Camera.

We have used a still Digital Camera to take pictures of two main characters - to show that they were very close, practically always together.
I enjoyed taking pictures, and they came up very nice and girlie.

LiveType.

For the Titles we used LiveType - the software developed by Apple Inc. to create animated title sequences for video projects. Livetype includes over 11GB of content including fonts, textures, objects, templated and effects. It can import any standard media files and can create text tracks whose style can be meticulously specified.
Using LiveType was hard, and even after using it for a time, we've had many problems with it as whenever we didn't save it properly and rendered it our titles were going Off Line and we were getting confused and angry. Although I think that LiveType is a very good and professional programme with a big range of effects.

With the jvc camera we filmed our film where we included many of the below
Camera Shots:-Over-The-Shoulder shot-
Medium Shott
-Point-Of-View
Editing:
-Panning
The most interesting thing i enjoyed was filming from a birds eye view.

Final Cut Pro.

In the opening of our thriller sequence, we have used Final Cut Pro - a professional non-linear editing software application developed by Apple Inc. Final Cut provides non-destructive editing of any Quick Time compatible video format. It supoprts an unlimited number of simultaneously composited video tracks, multi-camera editing for combining video from multiple camera sources. It comes with a range of video transitions and a range of video and audio filters such as keying tools and mattes.
I found it quite difficult to use, but the more I've been working with this programme the easier it has become. After we've finally edited all our clips and put them in the order, we had to put transitions in between them, because there were few jump cuts, and it didn't look good. Trying different transitions and playing with them was fun, also it made our video clip look much more professional.

We used this to take photos of still images that we used in our final film:

We used 'Live Type' to write our titles, 'Live Type' allowed us to use different fonts, colours and effects. Some of these effects included; Tinting the writing, adding shadowing and adding animation to our titles. The most interesting thing was how it came onto the screen.
When using sound track pro we made up our sound track for our movie, this was done by putting together different sounds and placing the among each other and on top. we carried this on until we got a track that made our thriller get more suspense.

In our thriller opening we used the software final cut pro, where we edited our movie and placed our clips together to make a sequence, however the hardest thing to do i final cut pro and what we found difficult is putting our still image of the peace symbol we had it did fit well with the movie the size also looked odd however once we learnt how to use the fill effects it all came together.

This is has a still image that comes up through out the movie simmilar to our thriller opening as we have the peace sign where this one has a heart shape.
It also looks like a very girly chick flick and has a female actress as in our one we have the same.

Mother in court accused of murder of children in Sussex

Post-mortem tests showed Harry and Elise died from asphyxia
Lawyers for a mother accused of murdering her two young children are expected to enter a plea when she appears in crown court later.
Three-year-old Harry Donnison and his two-year-old sister Elise were found in in the boot of a car near the family's former East Sussex home in January.
Their mother, Fiona, 43, is charged with their murders and was previously remanded to a psychiatric unit.
She is due to appear for a plea hearing at Lewes Crown Court later.
Mrs Donnison, a former city worker, of Lightwater, Surrey, is accused of killing her son and daughter between 26 and 27 January.
Safety concern
They were found in separate holdall bags in the boot of a Nissan car near the former family home in Heathfield.
The results of post-mortem tests so far released show the children died from asphyxia and had been dead less than 24 hours when their bodies were found.
Sussex police have referred part of their inquiry into the deaths to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
This follows claims by the children's father, Paul Donnison, that he had expressed concern to police about their safety.
After their deaths Mr Donnison, who was estranged from his wife, issued a statement describing Harry and Elise as "the lights that shone the brightest in my life".

This type font appeals to me because it looks like pieces of matches combined which shows danger. A thriller is a genre that create suspense tension and usually contain cliff-hangers, as I can see the mans face seems to be in the dark which leads you to think in more depth of what this could be about the font is bright and its shaped as a knife and lights up.

He loves me, he loves me not.

This is a picture from He loves me, He loves me Not.
This movie appeals to the same audience as our movie, as it's very girlie.
There's a logo used - a heart, same as we have used the peace sign in our movie.
After I read feedback on our movie, I was very pleased that people liked it and they understood everything we were trying to show.
Most of the people said that it was very girly and scary in the same time, as 'The peace was disturbed' and everyone knew that something really bad has happened.
Our movie was aimed at teenage audience mostly, we said 16-24 years old and our class got it right.

Health & safety camera tutorial

Cameras & Health and Safety
In this session we was given a tutorial on how to use a camera safely. Our task was to film someone swapping bags, but we had to use different camera techniques to create suspense and tension. Before we started filming our scene we had to learn how to safely use a camera. We learnt how to insert the memory cards and the battery. We learnt how to put the camera on the tripod. the tripod helps us to hold the camera in one place which allows you to record footage without the camera shaking. It makes you tilt or pan the camera which makes it look less sloppy and camera is kept in a bag which has padding in it

The bag helps us protect the equipment and travel lighter to go to different locations. After the tutorial of how to use the computers we had to create a story board for the sequence we were going to create. Story boards allow you to know what’s happening and the order of your sequence.

After we filmed our match cut we realised that we done many things incorrect.
We did not stick to the 180 rule and the dialogue did not match. Our dialogue did not match which made our piece not confusing and did not match the parts we edited together.

Live type & soundtrack

Skills Audit: Live type & sound track pro

Live Type and Sound Track Pro are a software programme that we are going to use after the editing of our thriller. We were given a tutorial on this software. On the right side, there is a box where it is possible to add different effects to use the text and change backgrounds and on the left you can preview your title with the effects.
We experimented with different effects on this software. We were allowed to change the angle of the letter and the font and change the direction, change to different backgrounds. However i found it challenging to use and needed help to know the correct way but soon got used to the way it was programmed. We looked at the software of sound track pro. This soft ware is for sound it has many different ranges of sound and music to choose from which included beats , vocals and instrumental. We were allowed to play around with the sound and adjust the length, the volume and extend the sound.
we could put different sound together and play them at the same time. For me this software was much easier for me to adjust to and i enjoyed how music could make such a difference.

Bait Tutorial

Technical audit of Bait tutorial
we were taught how to use the editing software bait. This is what we will be using to edit our Thriller opening. This tutorial showed us the right way to use this software, so it can be less difficult for us to edit when it comes to editing our thriller. Our task was to try to film several different clips and make them into a title sequence.
We used the MACS where you are supplied with two screens one you are able to cut the clips and the other one allowed you to watch the clips. Below these two windows there is a time line which allowed you to see different clips and add sound effects.
We also came to learn Input and Out put this allows you to pick the part you want for your finished product, for this to happen you pressed the letter i then when your are fine with it u press the letter o then you can drag it your time line. We learnt to use the Razor this tool helps us to cut the product in half then add another clip. This helps because you can go back and forward to several clips.
I found this tutorial helpful. It taught me a different kind of soft ware and helped me be prepared for my tiltle sequence.
